Yeah, what you are much better off doing, is leaving the IDE as-is, and get yourself SCSI and add build the SCSI up.
It will probably be cheaper, and it will be a damned sight easier too because unless you get hold of a 2.5" IDE Cable with 2 drive connectors, how will you get the files from one drive to the other
SCSI Drives are practically free these days, and anders is quite right to a point, I think after 127MB the sector sizes to go 16k and I think 512MB ( or 256MB ) they goto 32K, so you get less room in a lot of cases.
If you have lots of small files, you are stuffed, but of course, this is what partitioning is for!
