Note that there is a big difference between 68k and 68000. The former includes the '030 etc, the latter does not. I obviously used the latter on purpose.

I simply do not like sillyness to go unanswered. Most people do not know a whole lot about hardware and thus have no way of knowing what to believe in cases like this.

Well, how about a Sinclair QL emulator, a DSP accelerated image processing/viewing program, a free VDI with a hardware accelerated driver for RageII cards, to name a few things.
I've also done some not insignificant work on Bad Mood and XaAES and am currently partly involved in the ARAnyM project.
