I think that everyone is missing my point here.
Ok, its NOT the O/S thats the problem, I know that, thats not what I meant.
What I did mean, is that the core routines are slow, and need to be re-written to be faster. this can be done, no matter what crap you try to tell me, maybe there wont be all that many improvements, but code written in assembly, is always faster than code written in C.
Tell me otherwise, and you are a liar.
I am not ignorant either, I can see that there is already good choice of which O/S to choose, there is Magic, TOS, Geneva or even that other one ( hehe ), and I see that the software is of a very high quality, but its often lacking in some of the most basics.
CAB being one very good example, but then we have to be fair and consider just how tiny CAB is compared to anythign on the PC, on any platform too!
Maybe its only me who is getting the benefits of NVDI then?
You lot tell me how to get Mint to run faster, I will tell you lot how to install NVDI and trebble the speed of your Atari!
