Hi
I can remember my first joystick port nightmare. I spend 4+ hours moving the fridge, cooker, washing machine even getting the carpet up searching for 2 missing cups.... until I realised that the missing cups weren't missing, they just wasn't needed and so wasn't there.
I did have to work everything out mapping where the cups would go.
If you can handle a soldering iron reasonably well, as long as you take your time the job isn't that hard. I found that a couple of fag/cigarette packets, or something similar, to prop the keyboard up while you're removing those screws helps.
If anyone has lost a cup or busted a key etc... I should be able to help you out.
