Hi there,
hmmm...I always thought a CISC at the same speed
as a RISC with halfway comparable architecture must
be a bit better because it features more commands.
(RISC=Reduced Instruction Set Chip); the main
reason for that RISCs are preferred nowadays is
that those chips are smaller and can cycle faster.
And when comparing a 68k with a x86 I can only
say that, at the same tech-level, the 68k beats
the the hell out of an Intel :-)
I have to admit, I don't know if this is also
true for floating point operations.
But try to compare a 80386 at 16 MHz with a
Falcon's 68030 at 16 MHz :-) oh, the Intel loses...
After all an Acorn is a very interesting machine and
very very rare. I would take the Acorn (but just
because I do already have a whole bunch of
Falcons here (-;)
