Actually, there are a few DVD players with
video output, but the problem is to control
them with a ST, which doesn´t have the interface.
And there´s no software to do it with anyway. :o(
Every CD player has built-in D/A´s,
(Digital 2 Analog converters), so what you get
out is pure analog music. A DVD signal must
be decodod in realtime just like MP3, but
playing DVD takes much more resources than MP3.
There´s no way a ST could handle this, but
if you would like to play DVD´s under the
nicest Atari environment there is, you could
try MagiC/Jinne on a PCI MAC. You can call up
any MAC program from within Jinnee,
so this alternative works great.
(Actually, I´m surfing with Opera5 for MAC,
under MM/Jin right now. It Rocks!)
:o)
