No, mine came with some HC parts. Whether this was on purpose or just because he had some ex-stock i don't know. The clock patch however did have to require certain type of chip. I replaced mine with a F type hoping it would be more stable, I was wrong. It crashed more often than the one with it, which appeared to be a standard TTL, not even LS. The SDMA is annoyingly picky.
Best way to improve stability is to reseat all chips, clean the pins with very fine sandpaper as well. I removed the fan on the motherboard as a message from an old BBS saying this could cause problems. I also thickened up the ground plane with solder. Certainly more stable now.
