As the Mega's have a separate keyboard, I would try and eliminate that first. You may have developed a fault in the cable. You may even have a key that has stuck!
You can remove the boot disk problem by switching the machine on WITHOUT a disk in the drive or hard drive connected. After a couple of minutes it should go to the desktop. This would also eliminate a possible virus infection, as some can cause problems on boot!
Failing that, remove the cover etc... and make sure that the chips are seated properly as a film can build up over time.
