You don't need DD-disks at all cost.
The Atari Falcon will format and use HD-disks with 720/800 KB capacity without any problems. I use roughly 250 HD disks as DD and none of them has let me down so far.
You just shouldn't write to them too often i guess.
If you also want to use them as DD on a PC, you need to cover the HD-index hole with some non-transparent tape.
Usually, the menus of the menu-disks don't work too well on a Falcon. Some FOF ones do and Medway Boys might work, but usually, the menu themselves need to be disabled to run the program.
The programs are either real executables or need to be renamed from, for example .PP or .FOF or .SUP to .PRG/.TOS.
Don't expect too much of your Falcon, though, even using Backward can't prevent a lot of games from crashing.
