LGD is not a legal website. The fact that the companies don't care about the ST doesn't mean that all their ST programs are suddenly freeware.

Do you have a proof for this? Even if Maxis have released them for free for Amiga computers doesn't mean that they are freeware for the ST.

Abandonware is not legal (and most of them don't state being legal). I could name you websites which ask the companies before they make games available for download.
