There is a product that will work flawlessly on your problem. See if there any electronics supply wherehouses that sell DESOLV-IT made by Caig Labs. All you have to do is spray it on, let it go to work, and remove the gunk with a cotton swab (or if it is larger, you may need a lint-free cloth to remove the gunk). I do this stuff all the time and that is what I use. If you cannot find this product, a good bottle of rubbing alcohol will do in a pinch (however, it will leave a residue behind.
