Hi,

I have seen a hardware MP3 decoder for the
Amiga. I don't remember what it was called.

It used a special mpeg decoding chip + a cheap D/A from crystal. It was connected to the parallel port, and I don't think it used any of the parallel port pins the ST is lacking.

I see no reason why this should not work on the ST too.
