The "tv connector" is a tv-modulated output, it is not a composite output as what your philips monitor expects.
You need to have a cable from the 13p DIN connector. It will give you both RGB and composite.
If you don't want to make a cable, I suggest you try the machine against a TV (via the antenna input) from the cinch connector.
