Yeah, mine too is a bit of a bugger.
I had a Fujitsu 400MB which was full height when I had mine, and when I replaced the drive with a DEC DSP ( Also Full height ) I decided to also replace the SCSI cable, and that turned out to be a hell of a lot more hassle than I thought it would!
However, as long as you get the bends nice and neat, then they will go, and you should be able to double-back the cable too as there should still be a good few MM between the top of the HD and the case.
What might be worth considering, is to use a sheet of foam or something, as I have not bothered with the HD bracket, and instead, I have simply stuck the HD down on a sheet of foam, and its fairly secure as it is!
