The SM monitors take there signal on the mono pin, which I think
is just digital TTL level, 1 and 0. I think
you'd need to hook the RGB from PC video card,
through and OR gate or maybe resitor set to the
SM mono pin. The frequency problem might not be
too bad, you might end up with smaller screen than
normal. However, I never looked at the
schematics for the SM so you may put the HOT under
some stress with bad freqs ;)
I think Linux etc is better for handling "custom"
video modes. I bet Windows looks poor in
B&W too, I doubt they bothered with support for
monochrome.
