We weren't saying that you could only use KDE to run XSteem, we were just saying to give it a try (if you have it installed) and see if XSteem works better. We have tested XSteem using many window managers and haven't had any resizing problems. Unfortunately if your window manager ignores XSteem's resize request then there is very little we can do about it.
