This is not a sensible comparison.

PC:s are massproduced, thus the hardware is extremely cheap. The larger manufacturers can get components 10 times cheaper than the rest of us.
Also, producing a smaller batch of circuitboards is very much more expensive per board than larger batches.

Thus, a clone costs more money. This is not strange at all.

These guys probably does not have the financial backup like larger manufacturers has to cover their development costs.
Yet they are still willing to sacrifice their spare time and develop this machine. It's not like anyone is likely to become rich by producing atari-clones.

If you want a powerful TOS compatible system, pay for it.

A used falcon is more expensive than the price you mentioned - because they are rare. Just like the upcoming clone.
