While I agree with the doing it for fun. Most people putting together win boxes are making lots of money. Usually the profit margin has been pushed so low by major companies it makes no sense to do it for anyone but your self and friends. And the only reason to do it then is to have a good machine. Many win boxes are put together with cheap components that are going to fall apart in a year or two. If you don't mind replacing your machine every year or two then this makes sense. However when I'm doing business work on a machine, I would rather not have it die on me. If it's a game machine it doesn't really matter.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is generally you get what you pay for. Quality
does matter. If I'm getting a machine for my son to play the current game craze then cheap is fine. If I'm buying an investment
I would rather go for quality and spend the extra bucks. Since purchasing an atari clone
would be an investment for me in getting something I enjoy. I'd rather have them build a quality bit of hardware that's still running in 5 years, as opposed to them shaving $15 bucks off the box building something shoddy.
