I've got somewhere an Amiga that found "Professor Electrolazarus" laying for some time on a rubbish tip.
He gave it a wash, squirted the whole mud out of it at let it dry for some time.
Then it booted just as if it isn't the most normal thing in the life and I must say that it's floppy is overall the best of all Amigas in the museum.
Maybe this is some kind of act of desperation, normally I'd clean computers with compressed air. You should try to give it the full charge - it's so romantic to see the innards of your computer dissapearing in the sunset...
Water is not the best but not the worst; normally only the case will rust, but it's in your interest not to power a wet device.
I had a similar experience with my iMac. This ugly poor thing just shutted immediately down with a bang, can you believe it ? After I dryed it it worked again normally; but I'm wondering why this fat electrolyte condensator is that bumptious...
