Try asking at comp.sys.atari.st.

I wild guess is that it may have something to do with the DMA circuitry. Could be a bad solderjoint.

Try unplugging everything from the motherboard and clean it. Use a eraser (rubber) on the plcc circuits to remove oxides.

As a last resort, try the repairservice at www.czuba-tech.fr. That guy can repair anything.
