Yes, UniverC is a platform-independent API. You can write a program and compile it for every platform where UniverC exists, like with the ANSI Standard libraries.

You are not forced to use a different OS, nor a different GUI. And there's no need that the result is just some 'compromise' - it's looking and behaving like any other application.

A programmer doesn't need longer to have the platform stuff in mind. He does his work "as usual" and others may compile and spread it simply for other platforms.

UniverC aims even on older platforms; the only problem is, that you won't get very much applications that are modest enough, of course.
