Hi all,
so.... i havn't been here for quite some time now. anyway, last time i asked about the atari hardware, and especialy if there are any modern clones out there for sale. appreantly there arn't any (yet?). what's going on with that ColdFire project you were all talking about last time?
anyhow, now that were past that hardware issue, what's so special about the Atari software-OS-wise? what can it do (or do better) that Windows/linux/mac can't do?*

The ColdFire project moves on, though slowly. As for OS, basically, the Atari OS is compact and fast, as are its programs. So many pieces of Atari software have had to be optimized to run successfully on 8 Mhz machines that performance is quite impressive on very inexpensive used hardware. I personally find the two second wait loading MS Word 2000 annoying considering I rarely use any of its features -- the Atari equivalents, on the same hardware have a fraction of the features, but load in the blink of an eye.
