Tim,
Tell her I said you're not crazy.
My buddy, who was the kid who got every cool thing first, had this game.
It used a tape player and cassette, with an adapter in the game cartridge slot (I think) to load the game into the atari 2600... can't remember the game name.
This is in the old days when Radio Shack TRS-80 computers were the hot thing, and programs for them were also stored and retrieved on traditional cassette tapes. This is before the advent of the hard drive or floppy drive.
It had to be around 1980-1982?
The game actually was quite involved, with a manual, and required strategy and thought... some space wars game or something. The first game that required intelligence beyond Asteroids and Pitfall.
I only played it like once or twice, because it took so long to load from tape that us kids (at the time) weren't patient enough to wait, and we'd end up playing another round of Chopper command.
I happened to check this site out to find the power supply required for an Atari 2600... dug ours out of the attic to reminisce with my wife during the holidays. I've still got 35 cartridges with mine.
I'll check with my old 2nd grade buddy to see if he can remember this game name... he may still have it in the attic.
Regards,
DougM
