My OEM paddles had the same problem on my atari for years. I gave up buying any game requiring paddles.

Even as a kid, I took the paddles apart and swabbed the contacts with alcohol and cotton, without any luck.

If you get an answer, I'd sure like a copy at doug.mcfarlin@cox.net.
