Well, what about adopting a design and development model like Linux? Hasbro has released all claim they might have to the Atari Jaguar, right? So, while the Jag has a limited audience, they're very fanatical. There are no royalty costs to factor in, and no Big Brother looking over your shoulder telling you what kind of game to make. That sounds like a game designers dream. If the specific details of the BattleSphere encryption bust were made public, then programmers with limited resources (hobbyists) could release games. Personally, if someone came up with a way to reproduce Jag CDs, then they'd be able to distribute titles at half the price of carts (not to mention all the extra info they could pack in!) and _that_ would get my attention.
So, to get a Jag2, all we need is a dedicated group of engineers and programmers who would be willing to devote some time and resources. Seems to me that designing a next-gen Jag would be an _awesome_ graduate level Computer Science/ Engineering project. Put the basic design info on the web, and let the world work on it! Just because Atari doesn't exist anymore doesn't mean that Freetari (I think that's kinda catchy) can't go on!
