Surely the hardware Gemulator is good, and even the best for Gem apps.
But as far as I'm concerned, an Atari emulator is good if it is free ($), and even better: free software (free as in speach). Because I already bought my Ataris some time ago, now I've bought a PC and as it is more powerful, I don't intend to pay again for Atari stuff.
So, I tried Gemulator only in its software version. It is good, but not so good that I'd keep it, in regard to what other emulators can do. But keep in mind that STonX in only available for Unix, and maybe Gemulator is simply for Windows users what STonX is for Unix users. STonX can also use any resolution in 16 colors and TOS 2.06.
For Fat Rakoon, who asked how I used Gemulator: I simply used the downloadable software from Emulators Inc., and I run the program using Wine, the Windows compatibility layer for Linux.
But I admit that Gemulator is the only one allowing you to emulate a TT.
For those interested, keep an eye on the ARAnyM project. It aims to simulate a Falcon030 equiped with an Afterburner040 and plenty of RAM/colors... and it is free software (GPL licence).
