To make it easier for you and everyone that heared of having an Atari 2600 as a computer, they did make this in late 1983. It was a keyboard attachment to your game system with a disk drive built on the keyboard. Now although they pulled it off the shelves before it made it to the consumers, they did remake this system again which you can find this on AtariAge.com. This system was called the Atari graduate computer which turns your 2600 into a full blown computer. This is easier to buy than to build from scrach and the concept was though of and made already in 1983.
