Perhaps the VIDEL was affected by some other modification that C-LAB did. I certainly don't think C-LAB developed its own chips. Remember that C-LAB came into the picture because Atari itself was no longer interested in selling Falcons, so C-LAB bought Atari's stockpiled machines, then modded and rebadged them. As I recall, C-LAB did the deal with Atari around Nov 1994. It wouldn't make sense to develop a "C-LAB VIDEL" (I'm not implying that you said so, just that this is far less likely than my first hypothesis).
In fact, the MKX case was accompanied by a manual detailing how to turn a standard Falcon to C-LAB spec, and although I didn't read every page, I don't remember anything about the VIDEL. All the optimizations were digital audio related.

interesting details and ofcourse a shame these were never implemented. i can assure you there are subtle differences in the atari videl and clab videl..
