Yes, it's possible. And by the way, parallel port to USB is
also possible. And ACSI to USB, too. I personally would
favour cartridge port ot USB.

The port in use by the Atari is not the real problem - any
Freescale MC9S12UF32 or Atmel AVRs with integrated
USB can interface a USB on one side and the ST on the
other. The problem is writing the drivers and that's a
major problem, no matter what port you choose on the ST.
