There are ways to network an Atari with a PC. Ethernet would be the ideal solution. It would allow high-speed internet to your Atari through a gateway (PC/router) and also transfer files back and forth. Unfortunately there's no such thing as printer sharing and file sharing as in a Windows network.

Another possibility is to share the internet through the serial port. This is not really feasible on a stock ST because of the slow (19200bps) port speed. A TT/MSTe/Falcon (230400bps) should be fine. This is a cheaper solution than ethernet and a little tricky to set up.
