You may find big problems happen when any extensions that you used are defined with the wrong extension file name.
This is from memory, the files names should have a different letter in the last three characters.
I think it was something along the lines of;
ext1.EXA
ext2.EXB
For all of your extensions, TOME, 3D, Compiler, etc, etc.
If you had TOME as R and then tried to use your program on a machine where it was T then it would not work (lines of code saying "Wrong Extension" or something).
This may be the problem you are having, as mentioned this is just an idea of what may be happening, it has been a good 10 years since I have seen the file names.
I believe that some extensions allowed you to change this and some were quite solid about it.
