The 800XL has a far better keyboard. Seriously, it's the best computer I've ever used (although the IBM model M comes a close second). It feels just gorgeous to type.

The XEs and STs have very similar keyboard mechanisms, which are slightly mushy and don't have positive action.

I also believe that the 800XL needs a hardware modification in order to use SCART video cables.
