Hello,
the 1050 floppy is not a true DD-drive, thats why it is called "Dual-Density" which is about 130kbyte per Disk/side. You need 5,25" diskettes, single/double density (48tpi), single or double sided. they are hard to find nowadays, but you should get them. HD-disks cannot be used correctly on a 1050 drive. If you have a standard drive without any modification or speeders, every software should work fine. Most times you have to turn off Atari Basic (press option on the XL/XE computer) and sometimes you need the old 4000/800 OS which can be installed via a (PD) Translator disk. If you have many original (copy protected) disks and a floppy speeder, you mostly need to turn off this speeder... greets - Andreas.
