I bought an Atari 800 8-bit computer (gray boxed), a floppy drive unit 1050 and printer 1025 for $25 (is it a reasonable price?)
Yep! a good price when everything works....
Computer have a basic cartridge inserted into it, the second slot is empty.
I powered it up, connected to TV, and it works ok (i.e. I can input basic program and it executes). But I have some problems:
1. I do not have a power supply for 1050 - which voltage does it requires?
Uses 9V Ac powersupply....
2. I do not have FDD <-> computer and printer <-> computer cables. Please tell me which is the scheme of those cables? pin-to-pin? or it have
some crossings?
By original SIO cables at BEST or B&C computers, the cables are straight.
3. Let's say I've found schematics for 1050 <-> Atari 800 cable and buildet it.
What software do I need to use FDD? Do I need some kind of Cartridge, or it will work as is?
Just DOS or boot disks....
4. Will classic games like Zybex, which worked well on Atari 65XL, work on Atari 800 hardware?
When you mean 65XE yes, I never seen an 65XL. On 800 zybex won't run because it has no memory under the OS rom area..
5. How can I find out the memory ammount in my Atari-800?
Type ? FRE(0) in basic
6. How can I find out if my Atari-800 has a CTIA or GTIA gfx chip?
Run a program that uses graphics 9, 10 or 11 and see if it's displays colors instead of no colors... Colors mean GTIA. I have an 800 with a GTIA and I think the CTIA isn't used a lot, but simply exchange the CTIA for a GTIA when you have one
