Hi there
I have owned an Atari 65XE from new (1987).
It's not been used for the last few years but just recently I decided to dig it out & I'm having trouble loading games from tape.
While I can quite often get to the loading screens for the games - an error always occurs before the end.
I am aware that the tapes are now old (although they were stored in normal conditions (not attic, etc..) and that my trusty XC12 has read 'miles' of tape and both ar the worse for wear. I know the computer is fine as it plays cartridge games OK - I feel it's the XC12 that's the problem - as some of my (rubbish) games were only ever loaded about 5 times - but these crash too.
I was just wondering if there's anything I could do to improve loading success. Is there a special 'deep clean' or test I can do on the XC12? How easy is it to get hold of another XC12 (or disk drive) - as I know replacement would probably help.
