Subject: What happened to the XEM?

Hey all,

I was surfing around some atari 8-bit pages that show various limited production and prototype hardware, but I have never seen any picture or information on the XEM. I the mid 80's Atari was going to release an 8-bit machine with the Warner developed AMI chip. It stood for somthing like Advanced Music Ixxxxxx, but the new ownership couldn't figure out how to program it.

So what happened to the AMI chip and the XEM?
Are there any prototypes, working or not?

Jason.
