 Subject: 2600 RF modulator problem

I recenetly aquired an Atari VCS (I think the term for it is a 'heavy sixer')...it's in excellent condition but I think there is a problem with the RF modulator. Basically the picture is perfect for about 20 or 30 seconds and then the picture starts to role and become untuned. If I turn it off for a while and turn it back on it will work for a few seconds again before going bad. The console is in such condition I'd rather not just get rid of it. Has anyone else had this problem and can offer a solution?
