 Subject: 2600 video to Playstation screen?

I cannot get the video from my Atari 2600 to play on a Portable Sony Playstation Screen. WHY? I have done the RCA mod so I can use the original video out to the switch box, or use the RCA jacks that I have created for Video, L & R Audio... both of these are great through the VCR into my television,...but when I try to get it to plat through the 5" screen through the video in,...I get sound, no video...do I need to break the video back down to RGB?...any ideas? help....
