 Subject: Mega STE Booting

I am using a Mega STE 2 w/original Seagate 48 Meg internal Drive, SC1224 Monitor, GTS-100X External Floppy and HDDRiver 8.2. When I boot the machine it takes a long time to boot. I do not have anything autoloading other than the HDDRiver. I have tried it with and without a blank formatted floppy in the internal drive. Is there something I am missing? Is it the ST157N drive? Finally I am trying to play some original games on the Mega STE, Ultimia 5 and Starglider. I can get neither to boot directly from the floopy - goes to desktop first. What key(s) do I need to use to boot from a floppy?
