I will normally remove the top of the 1050 to visually inspect head accumulation and use some rubbing alcohol and swabs to gently remove residue. Also maybe the belts are slipping or needs alignment/speed check or even overheat (check the heatsink near the two voltage regulators). 1050 are known to be workhorses, so if you know somebody who can put a o'scope to it and check it out.
