Adding custom chips in the form of add-on card doesn't make sense at all, and I seriously doubt it would make things easier or more accurate at all. If there are flaws in the emulators, the best ways to address them is to improve the emulator. There is nothing magical about these chips that makes them impossible to emulate.

VMWARE is an x86 virtualisation product, and is very different from an Atari emulator.
