A plotter moves a pen on a sheet of paper, and has a much better quality of printing for lines than any other printing system (even laser or ink jet, and so on).
It's like the difference between bitmap and vector graphics on a screen.
No plotter actually accepts the good old Epson FX commands, since their way of tracing are completely different than moving a printing head to put dots on a sheet.
Since there was some programs on Atari to create architects plans, electronics boards and so on, I think they could use plotters for printing. But I also think it should very old models of plotters... not sure.
If possible, try to convert your yacht designs to another format, readable on other machines (PC, Mac or anything else), that could "drive" a plotter correctly. A vector format should be, of course, much better.
I don't know at all which format you could use, and how to convert your files to this
format, sorry.. This is just an idea...
