It seems like it's broke. :-(
If there's no disk and you don't press any buttons it should make some sound for about 3 seconds and then you get to a blue screen with a "READY" prompt.
Are there any purple dots in the memory test? That indicates that the RAMchips has gone to RAM heaven. That's what happened to my 800 XL.
