Subject: Basic compiler and word processor for 800XL?

I just got my 800XL out of storage and cleaned it up (first computer I ever owned!). I originally got it for the games, but I'm thinking of using it for a bit of serious work too. I'm not up to date with apps development on the 8-bit though, and wondering what BASIC compilers and word processing packages are available these days, or if there are any golden oldies for the 800XL?

Also, for using printers with the XL, is it best to just get the 1027 or get an adapter for a Citizen/Star/Epson?

Looking forward to getting back to my computing roots :-)
