Just read the thread and took a look at Rodolphe's site. Hmmmmm....
It seems like Rodolphe is really pushing the CTPCI as a graphics extender. That surely justifies the eclipse bashing. I suspect that if the Nature brothers have had progress on the supervidel, he'd bash that as well.
Let's face it, for the time being there's lots of enthusiasm about it, but I don't know how many are willing to hack drivers for pci cards. Yeah, a PCI card that can read USB sticks and SD cards would be quite cool, but I don't really want to get involved with writing a driver for singletos and mint (yes, I use them both, so rebooting to mint just to use the ctpci would be a nuisance to me). And it's my guess that pci cards are complicated beasts to master and program, so I don't know who will take upon the gauntlet of supporting a certain card. Oh, and the network thing is covered for my by the ethernec which is much cheaper than ctpci + ehternet pci card.
So, for the time being that leaves us with the GFX card. I mainly use my Falcon for fun puropses, I don't want to use it as a desktop machine if I can help it. Using ghostlink/ethernec is fine for transfering files to and from other machines.
These are my reasons for not being entusiastic about the ctpci and why I won't be in a great hurry to purchase one. Of course people will object to these, but that's my view.
