Hi Paranoid,
Great answers... will take some time for me to digest all... but before we continue further msg exchanges, any chance we can converse directly via email (mine is be236@hotmail.com), since I read email regularly than coming on to this site...
... now back to some points...
1. yeah, I used Ghostlink a long time ago on PC and null modem cable... maybe if I have time I can try to get back to doing and figuring that out again...
For now seems the quick-and-dirty and very time consuming task for me is to create a PC floppy that is 720K (DD) FAT and then back on Atari copy from A (Atari Disk) -> B PC disk... then take the files on the PC disk and copy back to my PC hard drive to archive, etc...
2. When I boot up with no disk, I get GEM and "About desktop" shows TOS, with no version number, so I assume it's version 1.0.. and also Alt-Ctl-Del does not work since it's not version 1.0.4.. darn it...
Also, it's so strange it works this way to boot up long time (20 secs?) when no floppy and w/o a boot disk, everytime it loses its settings (eg, change rez).. it's funny it only has a handful of settings, unlike even a Mac Plus.
Alas, I guess when trying to compare with my Commodore, I should really compare with Atari 800XL or so... that has a CMD line OS, not GUI OS.
Atari ST is between Commodore 64 and under a Mac Plus.
