There are several unaccelerated Falcons that have severe temperature problems, even with the standard fan, so i personally would not recommend to disable any kind of fan.
Mine ran fine with a "tuned down" fan until i bought a Nemesis. Now it has an additional fan on the CPU, which is almost silent.
Personally, i recommend to buy a "good" fan (Papst for example). They're silent and come in different sizes, however, they're not cheap - But if it keeps your Falcon alive without risking overheat, it is a good solution.
