Subject: Crap memory

Author: Elliot (159.104.232.183) Date: 08-30-2002 14:27 My SIMM adaptor for my Falcon is not that good, at 25Mhz there are a few dots on the screen. The machine does run stable though. With the 4Mb Atari card it is fine but with the adaptor it is not as good. Not sure what is to fault, the adaptor or the SIMM. Yes the BUS is the main thing that will effect the CT60 speed (when it talks to the DSP and Videlity). The DSP should run at 60Mhz okay but I have problems getting the BUS much past 25Mhz, I have heard of unstable but booting at ~30Mhz. I think the CT60 comes with its own speeder for the BUS to get the most out of the system. I have a few 060s (50, 60 and 66 in full and EC format), I will try and them and see what I get. I would not be suprised with them running at nearly 2x there rated speed (at -20C say), however water cooling may also be need (at least a fan) and you may have problems with other chips. You can get some spray that will protect from shorts with water cooling spills, I may get some of that to protect form water condensing. I may consider submerging the Mobo in thin oil with a pump to circulate hot/cold oil, this should protect ALL chips from heat problems (not tried it yet, may test on 486). Elliot...
