Yes, I felt the same when I first discovered this.
Though it´s pretty fast, for being what it is,
What if they HAD made the Falc a full 32 bit?
-Would have been the fastest system around!!

Yes it have 32 bit registers, and so do the
68000. The difference is that the 030 can´t
multiplex the 16 bits, like the 68000 does.
So the Falc only uses half the CPU, don´t
ask me how this can work... I´m confused too.

Well, since there IS no 32 bit bus at all... :(
The entire machine is 16 bit, except the CPU!
(even the DMA and COMBEL are 16DATA/24ADR chips)
The DSP56001 itself has a 24 bit DATA bus,
but I´ve been told that only eight bits are
used, though I have not verifyed this yet...

Hmm... I haven´t seen the schematics for the
Jag. It could use some kinda multiplexing...
