Hi Severino,
Well, I'm a proud owner of a 1040STfm with some minor hacks (4MB RAM, audio output, etc). It's a very cheap computer (although I paid a lot for it, because in my country Atari's are like ovnis...).
In a 1040 with 1MB (the standard ammount) you can run almost all the games and many professional applications. It gets better when you find one with RF output, so you can connect it to your TV and don't have to spend more money on a color monitor.
So, that's my suggest. But if you have the opportunity, and the money, i think the Falcon is the best of all...
